DraftKings has managed to secure sports betting market access in Washington state, while PointsBet has gotten the necessary licenses in Pennsylvania to launch an online casino and sportsbook.

open a retail sportsbook at the Tulalip Resort Casino

DraftKings has signed a partnership with the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, which will allow the operator to open a retail sportsbook at the Tulalip Resort Casino. The sportsbook will encompass 5,000 square feet and have a 50-foot video wall, over two dozen self-service kiosks, and several teller windows. There are also plans to open another sportsbook at the Quil Ceda Creek Casino, though it is only in the very early planning phase. Both of these sportsbooks will need to get the relevant regulatory approvals.

PointsBet announced on Thursday that it has partnered with Penn National Gaming to get market access to the online market in Pennsylvania. It also revealed that it has received licensing approval from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. There is no indication yet as to when PointsBet will launch its online casino and sportsbook.

Yet another state entry for DraftKings

Washington will be the 19th state in which DraftKings has a sportsbook up and running. Retail sportsbooks have been open in Washington since September, with nine tribes signing sports betting compacts with the state.

The Quil Ceda Creek Casino has undergone significant redevelopment recently to expand the resort’s gaming, dining, and entertainment complex. The grand opening is to take place on February 3.

DraftKings director of retail sportsbooks Michael Kibort spoke about this new partnership in Washington. Referring to the collaboration with the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, he said: “We look forward to bringing the very best in real-money gaming experiences to a state with a passionate fanbase spanning major professional sports leagues.”

The Tulalip Tribes chairwoman Teri Gobin is looking forward to taking the tribe’s gaming offering to the next level. She looks forward to customers being able to place sports bets and said “Like Tulalip, DraftKings is committed to excellence and, together, we’re going to give sports fans a one-of-a-kind experience.”

PointsBet setting up shop in Pennsylvania

The Australia-based PointsBet has been gradually expanding its reach across the US gambling market in recent years. One of the big drivers for its platforms is a five-year partnership with NBC Sports. It also is an approved sportsbook operator of the NFL.

Speaking about obtaining licenses in Pennsylvania was PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken. He said: “We are excited to be inching closer to officially offering PointsBet’s market-leading products to sports fans and bettors in Pennsylvania in partnership with Penn National Gaming.”

already has online sportsbooks operational in eight states

PointsBet will be the operator of the state’s 14th online sportsbook and 18th online casino. It already has online sportsbooks operational in eight states, including Colorado, New Jersey, and Michigan. Michigan and New Jersey are the only states so far in which it has online casinos.
